Daphne's obituary was in the paper today. Not that we saw the paper (it's not coming, since we aren't getting any owls) but her parents copied it out, probably so Astoria and Queenie could read it.

It emphasised how she was Rabastan Lestrange's daughter, and it was so sad that he never knew it while he was alive and so sad that now she'd joined them. It called her a 'true English Rose beauty' and talked about how she was a trend-setter in the design world and a noteworthy socialite and impressive hostess, 'connected to many powerful men' though it didn't mention who they were.

She'd probably be happy that it talked about how talented she was, known for her singing, dancing, and acting. And it mentioned she was Head Girl.

It basically didn't talk about how she died.

Anyway I wanted to write a better one.

DAPHNE GREENGRASS, age 17, New London. Head Girl of Hogwarts and Slytherin Prefect, Daphne was beloved by students of all Houses for her kindness, thoughtfulness, and commitment to fair treatment of all. A talented singer, dancer, and actress, she was acclaimed both among the students and in the wider protectorate. Though for some of us, none of her other performances ever equaled her dramatic reading of 'Pure Victory,' when we met in secret to listen together to her read it aloud.

Daphne joined the Order the summer after her sixth year of Hogwarts, though she wondered whether as a very ordinary person she would have much to contribute. That question was firmly settled when she used her unique access to send the seventh horcrux, which had been in the keeping of Auror Barty Crouch, to the Order for destruction.

A Slytherin to the end, she rubbed shoulders with Death Eaters and Aurors, none of whom ever suspected her sedition. Her chief weapon was not her wand, but her wits; her preferred tactic not defensive spells, but charm and grace.

She died on May 9th at the hands of her new husband, Auror Crouch, on the orders of the Lord Protector, who accused her of treason.

Someday, the Order will make sure everyone knows that this accusation was not false -- that she died not a victim, but a heroine.
