Dec. 4th, 2011 10:51 pmSo in Hogsmeade last weekend I bought loads of yarn from Witch-Crafty to knit presents. I was thinking I'd knit some nice striped wool socks for Professor Sinistra, but then I started thinking, maybe I should make presents for all my professors? Professor Slughorn would certainly like it, and actually the Strettons started making a pineapple jam this year that's quite nice. Not crystallised pineapple but I do think he'd like it (especially if I added a note saying that SOMEDAY WHEN I AM RENOWNED THROUGHOUT THE PROTECTORATE for who knows what, I look forward to sending him a proper gift). I mean he'll know I'm kissing arse but he approves of that sort of thing.
I can't quite decide about Acton, though. Though she's pretty stupid. I don't know if she's ever noticed or cared that I don't like her.
Brutka, Babbling, and Grubbly-Plank I like so it would actually be a gift from the heart (more or less) but then I'd have to decide what to do for Miss Professor Carrow. How much trouble do you think I'd get in if I gave her a pair of wool socks with a very subtle hex that made them super itchy? I'm pretty sure I could make it look like I'd tried to charm them to NOT itch and mucked it up, it's an easy mistake to make.
Do you give gifts to the teachers? Finnigan does, did you know? That's part of what got me thinking about it last year (only it was too late when I found out). It's really his foster-father who does, of course, which is rather different since it's the sort of gesture that says 'don't mess with me, I have someone rich and powerful looking out for me.'
(I'm not knitting socks for my friends, though, everyone other than you would think it was naff. SOCKS. But really nice knitted wool socks -- with stripes! -- those are actually pretty nift. Well, maybe Neville would appreciate them. Ron certainly wouldn't. Or Daphne, ha, can you imagine Daphne's reaction if I gave her socks?)
